What is Indian Caste System?

Still in the introductory of Indian history, i would like to elaborate more on the Indian Caste

          Many of us must have heard about Indian caste right? But how far did you know about the caste system itself.
         First thing first let me explain about the meaning of a caste system. The caste system  is a process where people are placing in a certain group.  It is like a division of labor and  power in human society.  It also can be call as a social stratification.
         In ranking the castes, they were divided into several  level of system or in an easy words are being ranked in a Hierarchical order.

There are four main caste in India caste which is started with: 
  • Brahmana (now more commonly spelled Brahmin): Consist of those engaged in scriptural education and teaching, essential for the continuation of knowledge.
  • Kshatriya: Take on all forms of public service, including administration, maintenance of law and order, and defense.
  • Vaishya: Engage in commercial activity as businessmen.
  • Shudra: Work as semi-skilled and unskilled laborers.
  • Pariah a member of a low caste or "untouchable"
